Hi 👋
Today’s post is a bit different.
I won’t post an article this week because I’m going on vacation. I haven’t had a proper one since January, and I am purposely disconnecting until next week so I can focus on spending quality time with my family.

But I didn’t want to just leave you hanging. After all, this is about discipline, so I decided to use this opportunity to thank you for reading and engaging with my content. These have been crazy months, but I’m finally feeling like I’m getting my creativity for writing back, and I think this vacation will only make it better.
I just realized that Self Disciplined turned two on September 8th. And I didn’t notice because I was too busy to do so. But wow, time flies, ain’t it?
When I started writing, I didn’t really have a writing voice or an editorial line — not that it has improved that much, but now I know what I want to write about, and most importantly, what I don’t want to write about.
I wanted to share this milestone with you because I couldn’t have reached it without your support and help.
I mean, look what a crazy journey it has been!
When I started writing, I didn’t really think I was going to last. The longest any other sort of blog lasted for me was two posts. To date, between Autodisciplina and the paid companions, I have written exactly 339 posts, including this one (and its Spanish version).
I started writing this publication as a gift for my kids, a legacy for them to read at their own pace, in their own time as they grow up, in case I wasn’t here to share it with them. I think now that everything I’ve written so far, and everything I will continue to write, is a fair reflection of who I am and who I’m planning to become — for them — because I know that even if I tried to give verbal advice, everything comes when it needs to come, and they will be able to read this when they feel prepared to. Besides, they will be able to read the crazy stuff their dad wrote in his youth and understand their dad’s context a little bit better as they grow up.
Now, however, Self Disciplined is greater than that. It became reflections. It became guidance. It became the principles I now use to run my own life.
And what a beautiful, stormy life it has been. I have grown so, so much from this experience. I gave a TEDx Talk. It gave me the idea for a book — one that is still in progress!
And most importantly, it helped me become more compassionate with myself.
Life has thrown its punches, but I have learned to actually roll with them. And I think my younger self would be proud to see who we are becoming.
So thank you, thank you for reading, thank you for sharing, and thank you for giving this amateur thinker a space.
Here we go into another new year 🚀
I hope you have a wonderful week!
— Camilo
P.S There will be no paid companion this week because of this, but please stay tuned for next week!
