This one’s a special, out-of-the-ordinary post.
I usually share my discipline reflections, series entries, and collaborations on Wednesdays. The paid companions, the ones that turn those reflections into practical steps, go out on Thursdays.
Lately, my queue for free reflections (and their companions) has been packed — thanks to all the kind people who’ve left their footprint as collaborators in this community. I didn’t want this post to sit too long before publishing, so instead of waiting for the next open slot, I decided to give it its own space. This will be the approach for certain important posts, announcements, and other time-sensitive pieces. We’ll see how it evolves.
Here’s what’s been happening:
Adaptable Discipline is now on Perplexity.
Perplexity is a pretty cool AI search tool, and it’s now aware of Adaptable Discipline. If you’re curious, you can ask it about the framework or, of course, ask me directly. I’ve reviewed its answers, and most of them are spot-on. (For the record, I’m not affiliated with Perplexity, just thought it was worth sharing.)
Bringing Adaptable Discipline into real-world scenarios.
I’m working on material to apply the framework in more concrete settings, like education, therapy, and beyond. If you work in education or psychology and you’re interested in:
Leaving a visible footprint,
Bringing fresh ideas to your field,
Validating a new approach to discipline,
then reach out. Contributors will be credited both at adaptable-discipline.com and in the resources themselves.
There’s more brewing, but I’ll keep some of it under wraps for now.
If you want to actively collaborate within the Self Disciplined community or help spread the word about Adaptable Discipline, send me a DM or email me at camilo@self-disciplined.com. I’m always open to ideas and make sure credit is given where it’s due.
If you have a free resource that aligns with the Adaptable Discipline framework and you’d like to see it in the public toolkit, let me know. This could be a guide, worksheet, or any digital tool. The only requirement is that it’s not gated by a paywall.

If you have a question you think others in the community could benefit from, drop it in our community chat! I’ll do my best to answer it — and if I can’t, maybe another member will be in a better position to help.
Now, to what brought me here.
I got nominated for an award 🎉.
I never get nominated for awards, so reading this truly made my day. It makes the appreciation for my work feel even more tangible.
I did some basic research to see what this award is about1.
The Sunshine Blogger Award recognizes bloggers for inspiring content that promotes positivity. It’s a fun way for bloggers to connect and acknowledge each other’s hard work.
Learning that peers recognize my work as inspiring is humbling and motivating, so thank you, Grace, for the nomination — I don’t take it lightly.
Grace is the mastermind behind Mindful Moments: Cultivating Inner Peace & Emotional Growth. You might remember her from Spotlight #1, which we shared a couple of weeks ago.
The rules for the award are simple:
Display the award logo somewhere on your blog
Thank the person who nominated you
Link to your nominator’s blog
Answer their questions
Nominate up to 11 creators
Grace’s questions for me were:
1. What is healing you most right now in your day-to-day life?
2. How did you learn to treat yourself with grace?
3. Why do you write, and when did you find your light?
Here are my answers.
What is healing you most right now in your day-to-day life?
My family, my friends, and my community.
Since I started this journey, something strange and beautiful has happened: I’ve begun being unapologetically myself, everywhere, in every context.
Before, I rarely talked about what I do here, even with my own family. Now that I’ve opened up, I’ve received nothing but support. That support has reshaped how I see myself and the value I bring to this community. At the same time, it’s kept me grounded, reminding me that this is also a responsibility.
It’s opened my eyes to the fact that my voice matters, and that I can use it for good. So when I see something unfair, I speak up, always with respect.
All of this has been healing. It’s helping me grow into an agent of change.
How did you learn to treat yourself with grace?
I’ve always been tough on myself, sometimes too tough.
The gentle, self-compassionate character of the discipline I share wasn’t a gimmick or marketing choice. I needed it.
People who struggle with executive dysfunctions, like I do, will probably recognize the self-labeling that comes when you can’t keep up with the systems you try to adopt from others.
While sharing my work, I realized that shame was partly why I dragged my feet. That was when I understood something had to change, starting with the way I labeled myself.
Why do you write, and when did you find your light?
I started writing out of necessity.
I wanted to document my journey of changing my ways and becoming more disciplined. I wanted my kids to have a legacy, a record of my growth that they could learn from.
What I didn’t expect was that my personal experience would turn out to be a collective one. So many people have faced the same struggles I’ve faced.
Suddenly, the legacy I was leaving for my kids became a living legacy for others as well. That shared purpose became the beacon I needed to give my work — and my life — direction.
My nominations
I want to nominate the following authors that have collaborated with me along the way, as coauthors, cheerleaders, feedback givers:
My questions
If you had one advice to share with your 18 year-old version of yourself, what would you share?
If you look back a year ago, what has changed that has made your life better?
What does discipline mean to you?
Thanks so much for being part of this journey. We have gone a long way together and hold tight, because there is more coming.
Have a wonderful weekend!
