Setting Goals For Self Development

images (20)A major part of our personal growth is how we approach our own self development and much more importantly, setting goals for self development. It has been said that your income will only grow as much as your own personal development. Because of the overwhelming evidence in support of this, there is no question that this in fact is true. You become in five years the books you read today.

It is not enough to hope and wish to become that successful person. You need to educate yourself and grow as a person. I do not mean the type of education you learnt at school, I mean real life skills; the skills you can only learn from people that came before you. The ones that took the hard knocks and learnt from their mistakes. These are people who left a legacy for all of us to discover.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Can you recall reading or hearing that statement? If you have the aptitude and good sense to educate yourself, then the knowledge is yours to seek. Every subject that you need to know and educate yourself about, has been written about. Your local library is full of this incredible knowledge and to gain it is truly to have power, but only if you begin to use it.

By setting goals for self development, you are putting in place your own educational process. If you do not feel reading books is your forte, then there are plenty of audio and video programs that are inexpensive or even free at your local library and over the internet. Some of the greatest teachers, past and present, that are synonymous with a wide range of personal and professional growth are Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Earl Nightingale, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Denis Waitley, Robert Kiyosaki, Anthony Robbins and that is just to name a few.

Just Google a few of these names and you will begin to see the wealth of information and knowledge before your very eyes. It will cover a full array of personal growth from your attitude to success, right up to a comprehensive time management plan that is suited for you. Your self development will be put on a course that if followed, will be bountiful in all aspects of your life.

Try to set a goal of reading a chapter a day from any book which covers a part of your life you want and need to improve. On average that will be one book read every two weeks and you can even take the weekend off. Two books a month and twenty four books read every year. Do you see how this setting goals for self development really works? The knowledge you attain and I hope what you will practice will give you and your family abundance in spades.

Self Development Plan

images (19)• How will my personality fit into my plan?
• What do I want to achieve?
• What are my strengths?
• What are the areas that I lack strength in?
• How can I handle the obstacles that interfere with me getting to my goal?
• What are some of my skills?
• How can I keep a good outlook on my plan?
• What effort am I going to put forth towards my plan?

These are just some of the questions that you can ask yourself as you are creating your plan. It is important to ask yourself these types of questions so that it can really define your plan and make it more specific. The more planning that you do, and more detailed, then the better your plan will be.

There are many benefits in making a plan. Planning is like aiming for a target. It is impossible to hit the target if there isn’t one. Another example a great speaker once used: picture getting into your car, driving not knowing where you are going. Without a destination you will never get there. Most people like to create plans for themselves in order to stay on track.

In order to stay on track, you have to know your destination. No destination, no plan, no goal.

There will be discouraging moments at times when your plan is not in line with your goals. The best way to overcome the challenges that you might face is to not get discouraged. It is easy to feel down when things are not going the way that you had planned.

To keep yourself motivated, and stay on track with your progress, share your plans with someone for support and encouragement. There are also a lot of books and audio courses that you can seek, that offer great training. You can gain encouragement and skills through achieving your small targets this will eventually lead you to your larger goals when following a program.

Attitude plays a big part in your Development. You must have a good attitude while creating a plan. Having a negative attitudes toward your plan can cause distractions, which leads to not achieving your goals, so that is why it is always important to keep a positive mental attitude, {and keep smiling}.

If you are trying to get your goals in order for your life, your career, or your future it is always a smart idea to have a Self-Development Plan.
